Dyslexie

This is a painting I made in 1998 about dyslexia (in Dutch: dyslexie). It was a school asignment during high school. The asignment was to make a painting about yourself. At that time I was struggling with my dyslexia very much. So this was an obvious theme for the painting.

In this painting I tried to paint how I see words when I read. Sometimes I mis a lot of information. And I end up having to little information to "guess" the words correctly.

And sometimes I get so much information that it doesn't make sense anymore. Words and characters start dancing in front of my eyes. And everything becomes a blur.
